We had an amazing country and a proud nation that was never perfect (nothing ever is) but is was damned close to paradise. I have been in the UK for 3 years and for the last year I’ve been trying to figure out how to come home and contribute to saving my country. I am currently trying to find out if I can vote from here or find a way to fly home and vote should the opportunity arise. I keep planning to come home and everytime I talk about my plans, friends and family at home say no… stay outside a lil longer. It not safe yet.
Sadly, I long for a Trinidad that no longer seems to exist. My British husband goes on Trini News sites and cannot relate to the Trinidad I describe and the stuff he sees there.
If Manning and Panday have to go to bring a worthy, safe, happy, healthy, healing Trinidad back in order… then I really doh care what race Dookeran (or whoever else could save Trinidad) is.
This is one instance where the Devil yuh doh know have to be better than the one yuh know. Nobody could do more to destroy such a blessed island than Panday and Manning have both done.
And one last thing… the only distinction I make between the crimes of the Panday and Manning regime is this:
Panday tief - then say he will share a lil bit with the people too
Manning tief - then aint share a cent
Neither of them is a viable option if Trinidad is ever to stand up straight again.

We subscribe to the herd mentality. Lie to yourselves all you want it is a fact. Years ago when ANR Robinson (arrogant bastard that he was) introduced VAT, and started to take the country to task by simply doing what he thought was right without really asking the sheep what they thought, he was not only voted out of power but held at gun point and abused. He was chastised and ridiculed. Ask any economist today if he saved us from financial ruin and listen carefully to what he/she will tell you. Without question he did. The best medicines taste very badly. We think we have the maturity to handle it but we don’t. That is why next year, we will go to the polls and vote (again) along racial lines. If you want change you must effect it yourselves.
Stop bitching and start doing. The “Leaders” are accountable to us. We EMPLOY them. Don’t get it twisted. But of course I am asking for too much. Or am I? The bottom line is PNM=UNC. It is time for change. Not the COP either or any by product of any political party. This is going to continue for years to come. The objective of actually penning this email was to offer a solution, but alas…I concede. There is none. I for one will not vote next election. The harsh reality is it does not matter.

When we were going on searches for my uncle, we called for police accompaniment. Their replies were either they had no vehicles or they were short staff. He has certainly done more than the police. We don’t know what to do again. We’re all fed up!
